Corona Aid South Asia, Balkans and Africa

As governments in the South imposed strict lockdowns in some cases due to the Corona crisis, many families faced existential hardship as they lost their jobs and received no government assistance. Thanks to an appeal for donations in spring 2020, PAI was able to generate funds for Corona aid projects. These modest but effective projects were implemented between May and July 2020.

In Han Bila in Bosnia, our local team was able to help 50 poor families, approximately 200 people, through the worst of times with a parcel distribution campaign.

In South Asia, our staff also distributed food to about 200 of the most needy as well as refugees in a small town.

In Ethiopia, over 1000 face visors were produced and distributed for hospitals, and in Chad, 800 masks were produced and distributed for health centres, as there was a lack of the most necessary protective material.
